All preparations have been completed for the “Associated Activities of Qatar National Day Celebrations 2014”, held under the theme of “One Love”, which shows the strong bond between Qataris and expatriate communities living in Qatar.
The programmes will be hosted at the West End Park amphitheatre and cricket stadium in the Industrial Area, Al Wakrah, Al Khor and Rayyan sports clubs tomorrow from 8am to 10pm.
The four venues will, in total, witness 102 shows by students from 17 schools and 180 performances by nine community teams.
West End Park in the Industrial Area will host programmes by the Indian and Sri Lankan communities, Wakrah Sports Club will witness shows by the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities, Rayyan Sports Club will host programmes of Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian communities and Al Khor Stadium will have performances by the Nepalese community and residents of the Al Khor community.
At West End Park, Ideal Indian School, Sri Lankan School, Pak Shamaa and Scholars International Schools will participate in the cultural competitions of thematic parades, thematic shows and songs.
Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM School, Bhavan’s Public School, Shantiniketan and TNG Pakistani School will perform at Wakrah Sports Stadium, while Philippines School Doha, Philippines International School Qatar, Noble Indian School and Doha Modern Indian School will participate at Rayyan Sports Club.
At Al Khor Sports Club, MES Indian School, Bright Future Pakistani International School, DPS Modern Indian School, Birla Public School and National KG will participate in the celebrations through various programmes and competitions.
The “Associated Activities of Qatar National Day Celebrations 2014” are sponsored by prominent companies and establishments in the country. Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy is the platinum sponsor and Qatar Primary Materials Company the silver sponsor.
QNB and Qatar Steel are sponsors of the cricket tournament at West End Park, while Doha Bank and Al Jaber Engineering are associate sponsors of the event.
The West End Park cricket stadium will host a mega six-nation cricket tourney featuring Qatar, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal community teams.
Tug of war and running race will be conducted in all venues along with football matches at the Al Wakrah, Al Khor and Rayyan stadiums.
At the venues, there are special areas for families, gifts for the public through a raffle draw and free blood pressure and sugar check-up by the Supreme Council of Health, Aster Medical Centre, Naseem Al Rabeeh, KIMS Medical Centre and Life Line Medical Centre. [Gulf Times]
