Belgium’s museum reflects colonial oppression against DRC

A controversial museum, focusing on Belgium’s colonial past, is re-opening after being closed for a year.

The event is being overshadowed by demands from former colonies, like the Democratic Republic of Congo, that it return some artefacts.

Curators say the renovated museum outside Brussels, takes a critical view of colonial rule in what was then the Belgian Congo.

Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler reports.
