Romania government accused of allowing illegal logging in forests

Romania is celebrating taking the presidency of the European Union for the first time, but it’s already proving controversial.

The Romanian government is facing widespread allegations of corruption and mismanagement. Environmental activists have told Al Jazeera the government has been complicit in the destruction of some of Europe‘s oldest and vital forests.
